Did you know our car got totaled a little over a month ago? We didn’t know it at the time, but…yeah, totaled. Icy roads, plus failure to yield equaled a nasty t-bone to our passenger side when Ethan was driving on base. We are so thankful there were no injuries, but it put us in quite a pickle right before we left for Missouri. And after this entire month of waiting, tows, calls to our insurance, and speaking with a random fellow named Chong, we still don’t have the means to get a new vehicle purchased. Serious limbo people. We think the fifteenth, but who knows.
Do you see how this is stressful (in general) and problematic? Birthday is on the thirteenth…the owner of the car we are borrowing returns on the tenth, we don’t get reimbursed until the fifteenth. There are a good five days where we are really car-less. So, Ethan decided we should just celebrate early. And that’s what we did.
Saturday he surprised me with this wonderful present (see how he wrapped it here) and we headed downtown to a pizzeria/pub I’d only heard good things about…The Moose’s Tooth! For an afternoon that place was hopping! We got seated quickly, though, in a fun two person booth along a wall lined with music posters similar to the ones above. Since we had pizza that week already, we ordered hot sandwiches and planned for dessert after…Ethan the Hero, and me the Philly. I think our eyes bugged out of our heads when the waitress brought our plates–the sandwiches were gigantic! We both only polished off half and boxed the rest for later. While Ethan ate a slice of finely decorated peanut butter cheesecake, I dove into a mixed berry cobbler with a hearty scoop of vanilla ice cream. So delicious.
So the Moose’s Tooth is part of a local string of companies, the others named the Bear Tooth Theatrepub, Bear Tooth Grill and Broken Tooth Brewing. Apparently they are pretty cool, doing things differently than other restaurants/theaters around. Music festivals commonly take place at the Moose’s Tooth during the summer, and creative-type films are shown at the Bear Tooth, with optional dining inside the theater. Really kicking myself I didn’t see Moonrise Kingdom that way. Needless to say, I am really hoping to spend more of our meals and free time experiencing what these places have to offer!
Now that I won’t feel gypped out of a lovely dinner on the thirteenth, I’m sure our birthday plans will include sleeping in, indulging on sweets, and watching whatever movies I like. But that isn’t out of the ordinary for us anyways haha. What were you up to this weekend? Hit up any fun first Friday events?
