The Unattainable Coast

theunattainablecoastSunday  Ethan, Simon and I drove down to Kincaid Park.  I had extremely high hopes for accessing the Turnagain Arm, the closest we could possibly be to the ocean…or waterfront.  But alas our efforts were squashed when we hiked a good way through forest and gnat clusters, tripping on roots systems and sweating in our denim, when we glimpsed the water from a high point.  It was still so very faraway.  We decided to be wise and turn around before we were truly winded, knowing the journey back would be a doozy regardless.  So tell me, Alaska, how does one reach the coastline?  So far it has been unattainable in every way.

Maybe it will be a better adventure in sweatshirt weather! All I need to do is walk out on the patio to encounter gnat clusters!!!!
