Birthday at the Glenn

birthdayattheglenn1Hello hello!  Another party in the books for this family.  Amanda’s thirtieth birthday was this weekend, and while we were discussing her milestone a few months ago, we decided it required a cozy affair at one of Cape Girardeau’s little gems.  The Glenn House if you remember is a historic home downtown that not only gives regular tours but also the annual Christmas Open House.  The carriage house is a red brick dutch building in the back of the property, both quaint and secluded from the usual hustle and bustle of the area.  P.S. Isn’t my mama cute?

birthdayattheglenn9Inside are rustic beams and brick aplenty.  With all the warmth we decided to infuse the space with crisp white and cool navy.  Toile tablecloths are impossible to find, so we had these toppers made by an Etsy shop owner.  Julep cups added some sparkle; red roses were also a must!

birthdayattheglenn4This is our spread.  Desserts and cocktails made our menu, and boy, was everything delicious.  Chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake, chocolate layer cake, sprinkle-covered cookies, southern walnut pie, coconut cupcakes, and trinidads from Fannie May.

birthdayattheglenn5Tall candles are always worth the extra effort; we got these beeswax ones from Etsy as well.

birthdayattheglenn7I’m already obsessed with this photo I took of Ethan.  He shaved his head that day and although I was pretty ruffled about it, I’m slowly getting used to him being bald.  It reminds me of how he looked when we first started dating four summers ago.  Sigh!
birthdayattheglenn8And here we are!  The entire evening went by too fast and I wouldn’t mind throwing another one soon. xo
